Essential Oils (yep, oils!)

WE ARE MAJAMAS Magazine 86 MAY 2017 WE WEAR Final

At MAJAMAS, we’re all about trying to preserve our planet and using products that are naturally derived in our daily routines. That’s why we’ve fallen in love with doTerra Essential Oils!

Essential oils have been used for hundreds of years and they can have a huge impact on our health.

We found out about doTerra Essential Oils because our very own Atzimba (my talented assistant) started using them, and like MAJAMAS, they are responsibly made. This is how she’s incorporates them in her daily routine:

I’ve grown up and become a version of my mother Imelda, a version that keeps herbs in zip lock bags, strictly organized with tiny handwritten name tags. I have become particular about reading food and product labels. My fascination has grown into finding multiple uses for oils, honey, herbs, and the many other natural options nature has to offer! Recently, I have integrated doTERRA Essential Oils into my personal apothecary closet of natural beauty and health regimes.

doTERRA oils are plant derived, sourced responsibly, and oh so very potent (Fact: one drop of Peppermint oil equals 28 cups of Peppermint tea). I eagerly awaited the shipment of my very own purple box containing Lavender, Rosemary, and Fractionated Coconut Oils last month. Once received, I immediately read the informative booklets. I took a drop of lavender in a 16oz glass of water for a dose of relaxation my tense jaw and neck desperately needed. Since then, I have built an aromatherapy bed time ritual by adding a couple drops of Lavender oil into my diffuser for a soothing bedtime ambiance.

But, that’s not all I do at night…

LavendarNow I wash my face and rub one drop of Rosemary and fractionated oil on my eyebrows (for fuller brows). I blend the residual oil left on my hands with my face moisturizer for extra night time moisture and repair. I brush my teeth, and rinse with Toms Mouthwash, of which I’ve added one drop of Lavender oil for extra freshness and help with occasional gum sensitivity. Finally, as I lay in bed I massage one drop of coconut and rosemary oil onto my scalp to really relax.

I boost the benefit of my makeup by adding these essential oils to them. I add one drop of fractionated coconut oil, one drop of rosemary, and one drop of lavender into my mascara to moisturize/lengthen my eye lashes. On busy days at the office I rub one drop of lavender oil behind my ears to catch a whiff of that calming aroma and keep my focus.

I am learning there are many benefits to using natural essential oils and it’s just a matter of doing some research to find what can be the most beneficial to you.

Go figure- I became my mother in many ways and I LOVE IT!!! The more I integrate holistic choices in my every day routines, the more I realize that less really is more.

Atzimba has several of us swooning over her stories at MAJAMAS. When we heard why her doTerra representative Gosia fell in love with essential oils, we were even more head over heels. Allergies were impacting Gosia’s life and she realized all the drug store remedies she’s used in the past had stopped working. With help from her friend, she discovered essential oils and her allergies are a thing of the past. (We want in!)

Here’s what she had to say:

I didn’t want to be the ‘hippie’ girl using oils but one summer I had an allergy attack that lasted over 2 weeks. None of the over-the-counter meds were working anymore (our body gets used to them and they eventually don’t work) so I decided to look into the essential oils.

My dear friend is a registered nurse, and I reached out to her for a recommendation on where to start. She asked if I’d heard of doTerra Essential Oils. I was still skeptical but after learning more about the medicinal properties of pure essential oils, and identifying what could work for me, she gave me samples of three of the most popular ones; Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint.

She sent me home with instructions on how to take them and to keep her updated on how my body responded. Believe it or not, after one day of using the doTerra Oils my allergies started to go away. My runny nose was not running any more, my eyes stopped watering, my headaches eased and the pressure and tension in my head disappeared. It was absolutely amazing. I could breathe and be outside in the spring and summer! I could sleep at night and the feeling of being tired and exhausted quickly went away.

My experience drove me to do more research about this company, their oils, their culture and their mission around the world. Now I feel blessed and beyond grateful to be able to share and teach others about these amazing gifts of the earth and to help change people’s lives one drop at a time.
